4. Dame Janet Baker (born 1933)

5. Adele (born 1988)
The best-selling British artist of the 21st century. Adele's voice is a classic dramatic mezzo — rich, powerful chest voice, warm middle register, and an emotional delivery that made "Rolling in the Deep," "Hello," and "Someone Like You" global phenomena. 6. Amy Winehouse (1983–2011)
